[Campus News]MCU Partners with BSI to Host ISO 14067 Training, Cultivating Seed Talents for Product Carbon Footprint Verification

To strengthen the campus’s capacity for net-zero transition, Ming Chuan University’s (MCU) Office of Sustainable Development hosted the “ISO 14067 Product Carbon Footprint Lead Verifier Training Course” from December 8th to 10th in classroom J616 at the Jihe Campus. Professional instructors from the British Standards Institution (BSI) were invited to teach the course, with a total of 27 faculty and staff participating to enhance the university’s internal carbon management and verification capabilities.

The course content covered core topics such as the ISO 14067 standard clauses, Product Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), carbon footprint calculation methodologies, and verification practices. Through theoretical lectures and case studies, the course helped participants master the management and verification process for product carbon footprints. During the course, Ms. Chu Min-Jui, Associate Director of the Office of Sustainable Development, visited to encourage the participants, stating that universities play a critical role in cultivating net-zero talents, and faculty and staff establishing international standard knowledge will help promote low-carbon governance in future teaching, research, and administrative practices.

Upon completing the three-day course and passing the examination, participants will receive a “Lead Verifier Course Certificate” issued by BSI. This training will further complete the university’s professional workforce in carbon footprint management and lay the foundation for MCU to advance its dual-axis transformation towards smart and sustainable development and implement campus carbon management.
