Ming Chuan University established the Sustainable Development Center under the University Affairs Development Committee in September 2021. In April 2023, the center was upgraded to a university-level unit, and in May 2024, the Division of Sustainable Development was officially established.

This adjustment signifies that Ming Chuan University has formally expanded its University Social Responsibility (USR) program into a broader university sustainability strategy, positioning itself as an innovator and practitioner in higher education development that integrates sustainable economics and environmental social governance, advancing a dual-axis transformation toward intelligence and sustainability.

The mission of the Division of Sustainable Development encompasses four key aspects: strengthening university governance, enhancing social impact, promoting environmental sustainability, and supporting the green economy. Through research innovation, educational advancement, organizational governance, and social practices, the division connects the university’s mid-to-long-term development plans and the Higher Education Sprout Project. Through these, it aims to concretely implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on campus, creating a paradigm shift in university sustainability.
