In response to global climate change and the carbon neutrality trend, the Office of Sustainable Development and the Department of Finance at Ming Chuan University jointly hosted a special lecture titled “Carbon Pricing and Its Impact on Us” on March 11, 2025. The event featured Mr. Pan Han-Sheng, Chairman of the Taiwan Tree People Association, as the keynote speaker, providing faculty and students with insights into the global development, policy trends, and real-world implications of carbon pricing.
The lecture attracted enthusiastic participation from university faculty, academic and administrative leaders, professional educators, and students. Mr. Pan centered his discussion on key topics such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), carbon trading, and carbon tax policies, integrating practical case studies to analyze how carbon pricing affects corporate operations, financial markets, and individual consumer decisions. He emphasized that “Carbon pricing is not just an environmental policy; it is a key driver of global economic transformation.”
Ming Chuan University has long been committed to ESG education and sustainable development, incorporating green economy and carbon management strategies into its curriculum through academic-industry collaboration. This lecture also highlighted the practical applications of net-zero emissions and corporate social responsibility, offering attendees a clearer understanding of the profound impact of carbon pricing on investment decisions, corporate management, and public policy.
Following the lecture, a lively Q&A session took place, with attendees actively engaging in discussions on carbon tax implementation, carbon trading mechanisms, and ESG sustainable finance. Mr. Pan provided expert insights in response to the questions and encouraged students to stay informed on climate change issues, applying their knowledge in the workplace to contribute to sustainable development.
