To enhance the university’s sustainable governance capacity and strengthen its expertise in greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory management, Ming Chuan University’s Office of Sustainability commissioned the British Standards Institution (BSI) to deliver the ISO 14064-1:2018 Organizational-Level GHG Lead Verifier Training Program. President Hsuan-Shih Lee led the participation of Vice Presidents Jin-Long Wang and Hsi-Hui Ho, Distinguished Professor Pei-Ti Shen (Deputy Executive Director of the University Development Committee), and several senior administrators, demonstrating the university’s commitment to advancing carbon inventory practices from the governance level.
The training was originally scheduled for November 10–12 but was postponed due to a typhoon and completed on November 14 in classroom J616 on the Jihe Campus. The intensive three-day course, taught by Dr. Yi-Min Kao from BSI, was completed by 26 faculty and staff members, establishing a strong foundation for building an internal professional team dedicated to organizational-level carbon inventory work. During the course, Dr. Kao remarked, “In my many years of teaching, this is the first time I have seen a university president personally lead senior administrators in completing a certification program. This reflects MCU’s strong commitment to GHG management and demonstrates how the university embeds carbon inventory capacity-building from the top down.”
Ming Chuan University continues to advance its dual-track transformation toward intelligence and sustainability. By developing internal capacity and professional systems for carbon inventory management, the university strengthens its sustainable governance capabilities and moves closer to realizing its vision of a net-zero carbon campus.
