[Campus News] MCU Continues Sustainability and Net-Zero Carbon Planning Competency Program Advancing the University’s Net-Zero Transition

To enhance the university’s capability in responding to the global shift toward net-zero emissions, Ming Chuan University’s Office of Sustainability hosted the “Sustainability and Net-Zero Carbon Planning & Management Competency Program – Taoyuan Three-Day Session” from October 17 to 19 on the Taoyuan Campus. A total of 114 participants, including faculty members, staff, and students, joined the program.

Aligned with the competency indicators of the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Industry Professional Assessment and Certification (iPAS) for the Junior Net-Zero Carbon Planning Manager, the 18-hour course was supported by funding from the Higher Education Sprout Project. The curriculum centered on greenhouse gas inventory methodologies, carbon footprint analysis, and carbon reduction strategy planning, helping participants build foundational skills in net-zero carbon management and cultivating sustainability seed talents within MCU.

Chief Sustainability Officer Yang-Cheng Lu emphasized that faculty, staff, and students play a crucial role in advancing sustainable governance on campus. He noted that professional training not only strengthens the university’s capacity in sustainability education and governance practice but also lays the groundwork for future greenhouse gas inventories and carbon management operations.

Ming Chuan University continues to pursue its dual-track transformation toward intelligence and sustainability. Through a series of training programs and ESG-focused practical courses, the university equips its community with essential knowledge of carbon management and net-zero trends, deepening understanding of sustainable governance and practical implementation as MCU moves toward its vision of a sustainable campus.
