Dr. Chien-Jou Yang from the Institute of Energy and Sustainability Technology at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology was invited as the keynote speaker, guiding faculty and students in exploring the possibilities of sustainable living in the future.

This lecture is a key component of MCU’s implementation of the Ministry of Education’s 2025 Pilot Project for Smart and Climate-Friendly Campuses. The initiative aims to integrate concepts of climate friendliness and net-zero emissions into academic curricula and campus life. Dr. Yang provided an accessible yet insightful analysis of global net-zero trends and challenges, focusing on the critical role of buildings and living spaces in low-carbon transformation. He also shared various green housing strategies, including smart energy management, passive design, and low-carbon building materials. Dr. Yang emphasized that future living environments should not only ensure comfort but also reflect environmental responsibility, noting that every citizen can contribute to net-zero transition through their housing choices.

Professor En-Min Yu, instructor of Introduction to Environmental Protection, highlighted that climate change and net-zero transition are essential competencies for modern students. Integrating special lectures into the course enriches general education with interdisciplinary expertise and carries significant educational value.

Ming Chuan University continues to promote dual-track transformation toward intelligence and sustainability. Through a series of ESG educational activities and lectures, the university helps faculty and students gain a deeper understanding of carbon management and net-zero trends, strengthening their knowledge of sustainable governance and practical applications as MCU advances toward its vision of sustainable campus development.

Full article: https://www.week.mcu.edu.tw/53324/

To support Taiwan’s national net-zero transition goals and to strengthen environmental sustainability awareness on campus, Ming Chuan University’s Office of Sustainability collaborated with the General Education course Introduction to Environmental Protection to host a special lecture titled “Housing Proposals for the Net-Zero Carbon Era” on October 13.
